Becoming Alpha, Inc. ("Becoming Alpha," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website and services. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, why we use them, and your choices regarding their use. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices, including how we obtain consent for cookies and tracking technologies.

Types of Cookies We Use

We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Essential Cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary for you to browse the site, use basic features (like logging in, account security, or filling shopping carts), and provide services you request. Because they are required for core functionality, we do not ask for consent to set these cookies, but we still inform you about them.
  • Functional (Preferences) Cookies: These cookies remember choices you make (like language or region settings) and provide enhanced, personalized features.
  • Performance (Statistics) Cookies: These cookies collect aggregated, anonymous data about how visitors use our site (for example, pages visited, site errors, or load times) to improve functionality and user experience. We only use them with your consent in regions that require it.
  • Marketing (Advertising) Cookies: These cookies track your browsing across our site and others to provide targeted advertising and measure ad campaign effectiveness. They enable automated profiling and behavioral advertising. We only use marketing cookies with your opt-in consent (where required by law) and they are turned off if you opt out.

Third-Party Cookies and Partners

We may allow third-party service providers and advertising networks to place cookies on our site to provide services on our behalf (such as analytics, advertising, and security). These third-party cookies may be first-party or third-party cookies depending on their origin. For example, a cookie set by a partner like Google or Facebook for analytics is a third-party cookie on our site. Each provider controls its own cookies and we recommend reviewing their privacy policies for details. The table below summarizes the main third-party cookies we use, their purposes, retention periods, and links to each provider's privacy policy:

Each provider may set multiple cookies for different purposes (e.g., session tracking, user identification, or advertising). We do not control the data these third parties collect, but each is contractually bound to use your data only as allowed by their own privacy policies and by applicable law. We maintain an up-to-date list of all cookies we use; for more details or to change your preferences, please revisit our cookie banner or settings at any time.

Automated Profiling, Behavioral Targeting, and Retargeting

We use non-essential cookies to support automated profiling and behavioral advertising. This means we may automatically analyze your browsing behavior (pages visited, links clicked, time spent) to infer your interests and serve you more relevant content or ads. For example, if you browse certain product categories on our platform, our advertising partners might show you related advertisements on social media or other websites. We also use cookies for retargeting, which means showing you ads for Becoming Alpha or related products on other sites after you have visited our site. These activities help us deliver personalized offers and improve our marketing effectiveness.

All profiling and targeted advertising practices are based on the data collected by cookies and similar tools, and are carried out only with your consent (except as necessary to prevent fraud or comply with law). Such profiling is generally limited to your interests and activity on our site and related online venues, and we keep it to a minimal time: up to 6 months in accordance with our retention policy. You can opt out of these profiling and advertising cookies at any time via our cookie preferences or the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as described below.

Data Retention and Deletion

Non-essential cookies and the data they collect are retained for the periods shown in the table above (generally up to 6 months), unless you delete them sooner. We automatically delete or anonymize the tracking identifiers and data after these retention periods expire. Essential cookies are typically session-based or expire shortly after your visit, as required for site operation. In some cases (for example, login cookies or security cookies), essential cookies may persist longer for convenience and safety, but only as long as necessary. If a jurisdiction requires shorter retention (such as 12 months under certain EU rules), we comply with that requirement. After deletion, any aggregate or anonymized usage statistics we retain (for analytics or compliance) no longer identify you personally.

Global Privacy Control and Compliance with Laws

Becoming Alpha complies with major global privacy and consumer protection laws, including the EU GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and other applicable U.S. and international regulations. We also recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. GPC is a browser setting that expresses your preference not to have your data sold or shared for targeted advertising. In line with California law, a GPC signal is treated as a valid "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" request. Therefore, if your browser sends a GPC signal, we automatically disable all non-essential cookies and data sharing related to advertising.

  • GDPR/ePrivacy (EU): In the European Union (and similar jurisdictions), we follow the "explicit opt-in" model. We will not place any cookie that is not strictly necessary before obtaining your clear consent. We also inform you about each cookie's purpose in plain language. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, and we will respect that withdrawal for future visits.
  • CCPA/CPRA (California): Under California law, cookies are generally subject to an opt-out regime rather than opt-in consent. We do not sell your personal information through cookies, but we provide mechanisms (like GPC and our banner) to opt out of tracking and targeted advertising. If you are a California resident, you can opt out of any sharing of your personal data for advertising at any time. We honor GPC signals and our banner allows you to opt out of interest-based ads and sharing with ad networks.
  • Do Not Track (DNT): The industry-standard "Do Not Track" browser signal is currently not widely supported or legally enforceable. Because DNT is a voluntary request that many websites ignore, we do not respond to the DNT header at this time. (Note: DNT is different from GPC; GPC is specifically recognized by law as a valid opt-out mechanism.)

In all cases, we implement appropriate technical and organizational measures (such as privacy-friendly defaults and contract terms) to comply with these laws. We obtain and document any required consent, allow you to exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection, etc.), and maintain records of consents and opt-out choices as required by law.

Children's Data

Our website and services are intended for adults and users 25 years or older. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from children under 25. We do not intentionally set cookies for children. If we learn we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 25, we will promptly delete it. Parents or guardians concerned about privacy and cookies should supervise their children's internet use and use parental controls as needed.

Your Choices and Controls

You have several ways to control cookies:

  • Cookie Banner/Consent Center: Use the controls on our cookie banner or consent management page to opt in or out of categories of cookies (analytics, advertising, etc.) at any time. You can also change your preferences by clearing your cookie and reloading the banner.
  • Browser Settings: You can configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Each browser is different; please refer to its help documentation for instructions. For example, you can block all cookies, or set it to delete cookies when you close your browser. However, blocking or deleting cookies may degrade your experience or prevent certain features from working properly.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): Enable the GPC setting in your browser (available on browsers like Firefox, Safari, or via extensions) to signal that you do not consent to sale/sharing of your data for advertising. If we detect a GPC signal, we will treat it as an instruction to disable all non-essential cookies (especially advertising cookies).
  • Opt-Out Sites (Advertising): You can visit industry opt-out tools to limit behavioral advertising: for example, the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) consumer choice page, the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out page, or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) opt-out site. These tools allow you to opt out of many ad networks' targeted ads across different sites.

Please note that some opt-out mechanisms (like browser blocking or DNT signals) can affect site usability. For instance, disabling cookies entirely may prevent you from logging in or using certain site features. We recommend using our consent center for granular control.

Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

Becoming Alpha does not currently respond to standard "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals. The DNT header was a voluntary browser feature that, in practice, has no uniform enforcement. Because there is no industry consensus or legal requirement to honor DNT, our systems do not use it. We continue to monitor developments in global privacy standards, and if a binding standard emerges in the future, we will evaluate and update our practice.

International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party service providers that set cookies on our site (such as Google, Cloudflare, etc.) are located outside your country of residence (for example, in the United States or other countries). When applicable, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure that personal data transferred outside of your jurisdiction remains protected to the standards required by law. See our Privacy Policy for more details about data transfers and safeguards.

Updates to This Cookie Policy

We review our Cookie Policy at least once every 12 months, or sooner if required by law or business changes. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will post a notice on our website or seek fresh consent where required. Continued use of our site after changes implies acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
